With Argon Construction, we won a design-build competition for the new Sports and Events Centre in Tokoroa.

The complex is within a 32 hectare collection of sports fields, and sits alongside a historic and slightly sunken rugby field. The building reinforces the wonderful bowl of the existing field.

The Centre houses a 1480sqm Courts Arena, a 500sqm multi-purpose Gymnasium, and 300sqm double meeting room facility. Toilets, lockers and store are centrally but discreetly located near the Foyer and Gallery. The complex was designed to a very tight budget, effectively $1300/sqm and completed more than a month ahead of schedule, within its $5 million budget.

In his opening speech His Worship the Mayor, Neil Sinclair congratulated the team on the vision of the design, economic efficiency and speed of construction.

It is a significant tribute to Bossley Architects, and the individual architects involved, that the Events Centre we have now opened is virtually unaltered from what they originally proposed (in the design competition)….they went out of their way to accommodate the small alterations that were suggested
