Restaurants and Nightclubs
The practice has completed a long list of restaurants and nightclubs, beginning with the conversion of a rowing club on Auckland’s Westhaven waterfront into Sails Restaurant. Subsequent projects included the Don’t Tell Mama and Site nightclubs, and restaurants such as Plumes in Takapuna, the Waterside in Tauranga, Ruba in Gisborne, and Mosso and Arabesque in Auckland.
A number of small bars, including the Judderbar and the Oval, initiated the appearance of intimate corner bars in Auckland.
A few years after the opening of the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa, where visitor numbers had been many times more than predicted, the original restaurant was judged to be too small to cater for the required turnover of visitors. We were engaged to redesign the facility to offer quicker turnovers and lighter meals, resulting in the Foodtrain café.
